Biography

One of the nation’s most respected and innovative lung transplant surgeons, Dr. Shigemura’s clinical and research interests include advanced lung failure/end-stage lung disease; lung transplantation; thoracic surgery; extracorporeal circulatory support; artificial lungs; lung repair/regeneration; and organ protection/preservation.


Dr. Shigemura has also been awarded funding for his research on dual ex vivo lung perfusion techniques after lung transplantation.
