Philadelphia – The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) has been selected for the “Honor Roll” of best hospitals in America by U.S. News & World Report, as featured in its July 25th issue. The publication's prestigious annual ranking of hospitals places HUP as one of only 18 hospitals chosen from the approximately 5,400 facilities in the United States that were surveyed.
In addition, other hospitals that are partners in Philadelphia International Medicine (PIM) that were included among the best hospitals in selected specialties include The Fox Chase Cancer Center, MossRehab, Pennsylvania Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Wills Eye at Jefferson ranked third on the list of eye hospitals. In addition, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has ranked as the best pediatric hospital in America for four consecutive years. A ranking of pediatric hospitals is expected later this year.
“Recognition by U.S. News & World Report confirms the extraordinary commitment and superior level of performance by our dedicated teams of physicians, nurses, technologists, and staff at HUP,” said Garry Scheib, executive director of HUP and chief operating officer of the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS). “There are many great hospitals in the United States, and being selected as one of the best is an honor to be shared by everyone who works at HUP.”
“For international patients, this means that Philadelphia International Medicine provides access to physicians and hospitals that are ranked among the best in the United States combined with services that focus on assisting international patients and their specialized needs,” said Andrew Wigglesworth, PIM president and CEO.
