Philadelphia - The hospitals and physicians that make up Philadelphia International Medicine (PIM) once again scored impressively in the annual U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital's issue. The rankings are another indication of the high quality of care available to international patients, who can access any of the hospitals in the listing with just one phone call to PIM at 215-735-3575.

In the rankings released in the July 22 edition of the magazine, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was ranked second overall in pediatric care, while the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) has been listed on the Honor Roll as one of the nation's top 15 hospitals overall for the sixth consecutive year.

"Once again, the rankings of Philadelphia International Medicine hospitals and physicians in the U.S. News' best hospitals issue demonstrates that our concern to patient outcomes, medication safety, and quality care is second to none," said Andrew Wigglesworth, president and CEO of PIM.

In total, HUP's expertise was noted in 14 of 17 medical specialties: Cancer; Digestive Disorders; Ear, Nose & Throat; Eyes; Geriatrics; Gynecology; Heart & Heart Surgery; Hormonal Disorders; Kidney Disease; Neurology & Neurosurgery; Psychiatry; Rheumatology; Respiratory Disorders; and Urology.

Children's Hospital, which is in the midst of a $650 million capital program over the next five years to expand its patient care and research facilities.

The rankings list hospitals according to 17 specialty areas. With three federally designated comprehensive cancer centers, PIM is especially strong in caring for oncology patients. The rankings agreed. All three PIM cancer centers, the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Fox Chase Cancer Center and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, placed on the list of the nation's top cancer hospitals.

Philadelphia International Medicine hospitals also placed very well in rehabilitation, in which three PIM hospitals were ranked, including Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, ranked 10th; MossRehab, ranked 15th; and Temple University Hospital, ranked 20th.
